This problem usually occurs in children, but also in the elderly whose jobs require frequent or constant use of modern technologies. However, certain foods can help to protect your eyes and save their health, also improve your eyesight.

It is well known that carrot is the best food for eye health. It is rich with beta- carotene, antioxidant that stops the degeneration of the eye muscles and protects against macular degeneration, glaucoma and cataracts. Also, this vegetable is rich in vitamin A, which has a direct impact on our eyesight.

Strawberries also improve vision. A research which has involved more than 110.000 men and women found that vitamins A, C, E, B1, B12, B2, B3, B5 and B6, which are rich in strawberries, play a key role in preserving the eye health.

Fish, especially salmon and tuna, are rich sources of many minerals and omega- 3 fatty acids that protect the eye muscles. These fish are very healthy and they should be consumed once a week. Shellfish are also a rich source of zinc, a mineral that is essential for eye health and vision.

Certain plants also can protect the eye.  Ginkgo biloba helps maintaining the inner layer of the blood vessels, and thus allows unobstructed blood flow to the eye. Adults are recommended to take 120 mg of this plant, twice a day.
